Thank you, HD2B!

Andrea Mérida, Captain of HD2B On behalf of Cecilia Flores, your new co-Captain, and myself, I'd like to thank you for placing your trust in us as we lead our subdistrict forward for the next two years. We are humbled that you have placed your confidence in us! I know that I speak for Cecilia as well when I tell you that we're in love with our homes in Southwest Denver, and we promise to work hard to facilitate the work of our beloved precinct committee people and to engage the constituents in HD2B.

I'd like to also thank the outgoing Captain, Balvino Martinez Chaves, who has dedicated more than 30 years of his life to HD2B and to Southwest Denver at large. He is truly the "lion of Southwest Denver," and I personally am grateful that he has offered to help me along the way. Thank you for your dedication to Southwest Denver, Bal!

Right out of the gate, there are two separate initiatives that I'll be working on. The first is to help our PCPs get as Internet-friendly as possible. I'm working on providing computers to those of you that don't have the means, and as long as you have a regular telephone line, you'll be able to access the Internet, all free of charge. It's my way of thanking you for your activism and for making sure that you're up-to-date with the latest developments.

The second initiative will be to staff the empty precincts in our subdistrict. I was so happy to see that at yesterday's Reorganization there was 82% turnout from the precincts that have at least one PCP, but unfortunately, that only represents 24% of all the precincts in our subdistrict. Therefore, we need more hands on deck. I will be making a media push to publicize the need for people to step forward, because I believe that people are still feeling a post-Inauguration high that we have to corral. Not only do we need more PCPs, but we also need people to staff the various committees, like the following:

A finance/treasurer for the subdistrict, who will work with his/her counterpart in 2A.
a member to the County Diversity/Outreach committee
a member to the County GOTV (get out the vote) committee
a member to the County technology committee
a member to the County Issues committee
a member to the County Events Planning committee
a member to the County Fundraising committee
