February Service Project in House District 4
February Service Project
Providing census information to vulnerable populations
For our February service project we will have a project to go door-to-door to give out reusable grocery bags and provide information on the census. We plan to target areas with more transient populations and dispel myths so that all of our community members are counted.
Information the census collects helps to determine how more than $400 billion dollars of federal funding each year is spent on infrastructure and services. Accurate data reflecting changes in our community are crucial in apportioning seats in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Every person should be counted for the census. Many residents in the US illegally fear deportation if they are counted. There are very strict privacy laws that prevent sharing information with any other government agency. We need to try to help people feel safe being counted.

If you are interested in helping with this project e-mail Izzi DeSilva at izzi2121@hotmail.com. You can do this on your own time. We'll just need to coordinate getting the materials to you. Census forms will be mailed in March.
