Service Opportunities

Warm Clothing Drive for The Homeless Men and Women of Denver
If you can help, please bring donations of warm coats, hats, gloves, tube socks, and jeans to our Holiday Party.  We will bring these down to the St. Francis Center, a shelter for homeless men and women in downtown Denver, the following day, and your donation will be put to immediate use by the guests at the shelter as they prepare to weather another Colorado winter.

If you want to go a step further, please drop by the St. Francis Center at 2323 Curtis St., check their website at www.sfcdenver.org/, or give them a call at (303) 297-1576 to find out how you can help.  Any interest and time you can invest in helping these men and women reclaim their hope and continue on a path toward finding jobs and homes would be incredibly meaningful.

Governor Ritter's Holiday Food Drive
The Democratic Party of Denver and the Denver Young Democrats participated in a food drive to help the Denver Rescue mission over the Christmas holidays.  During the year, the Denver Rescue Mission provides shelter, food, clothing, education, and work discipline to assist individuals as needed. During 2009, the Denver Rescue Mission served 691,502 meals; fed 13,086 people through food boxes; provided 168,676 nights of shelter; distributed 196 million tons of clothing; supplied 822 families with furniture; provided 13,320 Client Service visits and received 3,900 visits in the Health Clinic. On average, a cash donation of $27.60 will feed 15 homeless people and offer the opportunity for rehabilitation and education to those seeking to change their lives.

Denver Democrats demonstrated their spirit and commitment to the community by donating just over $220.00 in cash and approximately $400 in canned and dried goods to the Denver Rescue Mission this past holiday season!  The Denver Rescue Mission, the Democratic Party of Denver, and the Denver Young Democrats thank all of you who donated money and food, and thank you for your commitment to service in our community during this holiday season.
