Caucus Eligibility Requirements

Caucus Eligibility Requirements

Please make sure your voter registration is in order, as the first stage of the 2012 Election process is set for March 6th, when Denver Democrats will gather in their neighborhoods to participate in Democratic Party Caucuses.  Participants will vote for Colorado's Democratic U.S. Senate candidates, elect Precinct Committee Persons, and Delegates to the County Assembly from their immediate neighborhoods, and adopt planks to submit for the Party platform.

To participate in your Precinct Caucus, voters must meet the following requirements and deadlines:

A person may vote at the precinct caucus, be elected a delegate or an alternate from the caucus and/or be elected as a precinct committee person if, according to the registration records of the county clerk and recorder’s office, they have resided in the precinct for at least 30 days, since February 5, 2012, and have been registered as a Democrat since January 6, 2012.

The same is true for anyone who attained the age of 18 or became a naturalized citizen – the deadline is January 6, 2012. A person who moved away from the precinct in which they registered after January 6, 2012 may vote in the old precinct, but may not become a delegate or committee person.

Other persons may attend the caucus, but cannot vote.
