Denver County Assistant Treasurer

DENVER COUNTY ASSISTANT TREASURER

The Assistant Treasurer position is one of six Denver Dems county officers and as such holds important privileges and responsibilities. The treasury officers of the county party are tasked with overseeing all fiscal operations of the party.
Our primary duties include:
  • Directing the Finance Committee
  • Compiling and presenting financial reports
  • Insuring compliance with campaign finance laws
  • Developing and tracking the county’s annual budget
  • Interfacing with sub-districts to insure their financial success
  • Overseeing fundraising activities
  • Preparing all required regulatory reports and tax returns
  • Insuring financial accountability and transparency
  • Counting money (especially after big events)...this can really be a lot of fun!
As assistant treasurer you will help manage the day-to-day fiscal activities of the party and will also be instrumental in crafting our overarching financial direction. As one of the county’s two treasury officers you will be a financial “ambassador” to our sub-districts and the various other bodies of the party.

The six county officers meet once a month, usually on the first Monday evening, the Executive Committee meets each third Thursday, from 6:30 until about 8:30 or sometimes 9:00, and the Finance Committee typically meets the Thursday of the week after Executive Committee. These meetings are mandatory.

We use QuickBooks as our accounting software and employ Excel extensively, and while a finance/accounting background is helpful, it is not necessary to qualify for the assistant position. Far more important is a willingness to dig in and see the Denver Dems succeed!
