Edward Hall

Ed is a native of Colorado, born and raised in Colorado Springs. He attended Palmer High School there and earned a full scholarship to the University of Denver where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. He has deep roots in Colorado, counting among his predecessors a United Mine Worker grandfather who worked in the coal mines outside Trinidad as well as another grandfather who sat on the Colorado Supreme Court for eight years, serving as Chief Justice in 1961.

Ed held a number of financial positions in a variety of industries including commercial real estate and beverage distribution before striking out on his own in 2009. He is currently a contract accountant, serving a number of Denver area non-profits and small businesses, and is the treasurer and accountant for a handful and a half of Colorado legislators.

Ed was launched into the world of political activism in 2006 when he attended his local Denver Democratic Party caucus. Having been registered unaffiliated until then, the message he heard at that caucus convinced Ed to register as a Democrat and begin working to promote the Party’s mission. He was elected Precinct Committee Person for his precinct – a position he holds to this day. At the 2007 organizational meeting for sub-district 2A he was appointed Finance Chair and later that year he also got involved in the Denver Dems’ financial and fundraising efforts earning appointment as fundraising co-chair for the county party for the 2007-2008 term. He oversaw the hectic but inspiring county caucus and county convention fundraising efforts in 2008, which resulted in nearly $100,000 raised for the Party. In 2009 Ed ran for the office of Denver Dems Treasurer and was elected by an overwhelming margin. He was elected to a second term in 2011. Ed is a member of the Colorado Democratic Party Latino Initiative and has been a member of the state party Central and Executive committees since 2007.  He also sits on the board of NARAL Pro Choice PAC, the political action leader in the pro-choice movement in Colorado.

In addition to his Party duties, Ed has worked tirelessly over the years to elect Democrats and promote the Party’s ideals. The first campaign he worked on was Bill Ritter’s run for Governor in 2006 and since then he has knocked on countless doors and made numerous phone calls for many Democratic candidates running in Colorado at the local, state and federal level. He also helped craft the Denver Dems platform in 2008, 2010 and 2012 and takes a keen interest in how Democrats communicate their vision for Colorado and the Nation.

Ed lives in the Athmar neighborhood of Denver, where he has turned his ginormous yard over to a community supported agriculture group.
